Job Title Ultrasound Supervisor
City Cambridge
Description 1. Participates in the overall planning for the ultrasound area of Radiology. In conjunction with the radiologist and Radiology Manager, establishes policies, methods, procedures, and goals. Develops and manages the ultrasound operating budget; ensures expenditures are within allocated funds.
2. Supervises all ultrasound activities and ensures quality patient care is given according to standards. Interviews, selects, trains, and supervises ultrasound staff. Evaluates work performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions. Prepares staff assignments and schedules according to patient load; determines priorities in conjunction with nursing units.
3. Meets with sales representative and vendors, evaluates products, and makes recommendations for purchase. Selects and orders supplies for ultrasound section.
4. Ensures ultrasound equipment is functioning properly and is in safe condition; troubleshoots equipment and performs routine maintenance as required. Contacts service for repair as needed.
5. Maintains daily log for patient billing purposes. Maintains a variety of statistical information such as all scans performed, service calls for equipment, parts replaced/repaired, etc.
6. Reviews pathological, surgical, and newborn delivery reports to follow patients' progress and to provide a means of reviewing accuracy of ultrasound examinations.
7. Researches, develops, and formulates new techniques and procedures. Keeps abreast of developments in ultrasound.
8. Performs duties of medical sonographer on a regular basis.
Requirements 1. Equivalent to high school education plus two years of formal training in radiological technology resulting in RDMS registration.

2. Completion of clinical ultrasound internship and successfully passed ultrasound boards.

3. Three years of diagnostic ultrasound experience.

4. Strong supervisory, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
