Principal Duties and Responsibilities 1. Monitors and documents compliance with regulatory and government agencies (CMS, JCAHO, NFPA, DPS, DEP, DPH, OSHA, MWRA, etc.) Coordinate the overall operation of the environmental safety program. 2. Coordinates the overall operation of the emergency preparedness management program. 3. Chair the Disaster Executive Emergency Management Committee. Facilitate Disaster/Events/Drills, including conducting all drills. Ensure active community participation through the community liaison on the local, regional, state and federal levels 4. Oversee the procurement and manage Emergency Management grant dollars. Manage grant and operational budget. 5. Develop, recommend and implement policies specific to hospital-wide safety management and establishes goals, objectives and plans related to the delivery of a safe and secure environment. 6. Responsible for managing the Environment of Care Program. Ensure that all policies and procedures are current and appropriate. Coordinate the Environment of Care Safety Committee meetings on a regular basis. Gather data and prepare ongoing PI, and regulatory reports. 7. Responsible for taking immediate and appropriate actions to correct any deficiencies and stop any unsafe activities that may cause personal injury or cause property damage and report to Director of Engineering when using authority. 8. Participate as an active member of the EOC sub-committees. Provides assistance to sub-committee chairs in designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluation of effectiveness of programs. Audit and evaluate performance improvement objectives of committees and recommends best practices and benchmarking processes.
9. Assess educational needs of staff in regards to the safety issues and prepare a plan accordingly. 10. Participate in new employee Safety Orientation Program as coordinated by Human Resources to train new employees on Environmental Safety Program 11. Responsible for the general safety and life safety (through tours, education and inspections) of active construction sites as well as the coordination with Infection Prevention. Responsible for ILSM assessment, training and documentation for construction projects and PFI’s. 12. Responsible for coordinating and documenting Environmental safety rounds program at hospital and offsite property/clinics. 13. Develop and implement system-wide standards, policies and procedures. 14. Coordinate with and assist Employee Health Department as necessary. 15. Assist with MSDS inventory program and maintain master files for Mount Auburn Hospital. 16. Attends local, regional, and national meetings and seminars relating to hospital safety activities and trends and maintains a current collection of safety literature and reference material. 17. Monitor/research new trends and developments and research/analyze data for projecting future programs, service and facility safety needs. 18. Other jobs as deemed necessary.

| Requirements |
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
1. Minimum 3 years experience in health and safety or facilities management level position, preferably in the health care environment.
2. Bachelor degree in an engineering, industrial hygiene, safety engineering or environmental health (safety professional) or other related area is required.
3. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint is required. Working knowledge of all applicable regulatory agency codes and standards.
